New Year's Resolutions
58Happy New Year!
Making a New Year's resolution has become a tradition for many, including me.
Breaking a resolution, unfortunately, is also a tradition.
Sure it would be great if we could all achieve the perfect weight or pull ourselves out of debt. But those resolutions, well, they are old and aren't any fun! So, let's take a look at some NEW ideas for how to really make 2011 better than 2010!
See if anything sounds like something you could change for yourself! Not all of them are groundbreaking or the most entertaining resolutions ever created, but many are ones I wish to achieve myself. Perhaps the problems with keeping resolutions before were that we were not invested enough.
I only write about what I believe in, and I feel like these truly would help us all to live a better year next year...
Top 5 NEW Resolutions
5. Send less text messages and actually call and speak to friends and family more often on the phone. Or, for some, learn how to have a conversation without abbreviating words!
4. Reduce the amount of times I eat take-out food, and learn how to cook healthy AND delicious meals! An occasional pizza or order of chicken fingers is okay, but there's an oven in the kitchen for a reason. Use it!
3. Read at least one novel each month = at least twelve books in the year, with potential to read more during the summer months. I wasn't part of Reading Rainbow, but I am a true believer in the power of reading.
2. Go on a memorable trip. Not a trip to Hershey Park, (unless you are like the biggest fan of chocolate ever.) I'm talking a trip somewhere new and exciting. I want to visit North Carolina, and truly experience the culture, more than anything. I sure hope 2011 is the year for that!
1. Break a world record. Seriously. Go for it! Look up those records done by everyday people and figure out which one you could actually break. For me, maybe I can break the tallest house of cards. Although, I must say it would be incredible to take part in creating the largest chocolate bar!
Why Even Make a New Year's Resolution
Nobody is saying you have to. I always like to, because I see January 1st as a fresh start every year. That chance to change what I wasn't happy with the year before.
You can kick those bad habits and reflect on your life.
If you're wondering why should make a resolution, let me ask you this...
Why not?

Hi Kristen, Some good suggestions in this Hub. I like your read a book a month advice. Thanks and God Bless!
Good resolutions! Reading a book a month sound good, and eating less take out will save heaps of money for you to buy those books!
Excellent resolutions! As for a good book, I would strongly recommend The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. It' very lyrical and tells the story of a German family hiding a Jew during WWII. It's quite a beautiful story.

I would humbly suggest Sunset Beach in North Carolina. Check out my hub on it.
