Kindergarten Activities: The Letter L
72Hopefully you have enjoyed learning the letters A through K...
Now it's time to move on to the letter L!
The LUCKY L!
Art/Creative Experience
1. Use real leaves from outside and crinkle them up over paper plates. Have the children draw brown tree trunks on pieces of paper then spread glue all about the top of the page. Let them sprinkle the broken leaves onto the glue for a very fun picture!
2. Cut fake leaves out of construction paper. Then have children create tree trunks (just like in the first activity), but this time, after they glue the leaves on, they write one thing they LOVE on each leaf. (Leaves of love!)
3. Make large ladybugs. Children can color a paper plate red, glue a large circle of black construction paper onto it for a head, and then small black circles onto its back.
4. Cut a large L out of black paper. Teach children they can do this by just cutting one large rectangle out of the corner. Then glue lemons, cut from yellow construction paper, all over the L's.
Science/Exploration
1. Go on a leaf hunt outside! Especially fun during the Fall season when there are different colors to seek and find.
2. Teach the children how to play leapfrog. (One jumps over another.)
3. Teach a lesson about the difference between leopards and lions and their habitats.
4. Make some lemonade! Experiment with how much sugar makes it the sweet enough, but not too sweet.
