Homemade Mother's Day Book

Directions:

  • Select a different color of construction paper for each page.
  • Staple or tape a piece of lined paper in the center of each piece of construction paper.
  • When finished, staple your completed book together.

For each page:

1. Cover Page (only page without lined paper) – Title : Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! Decorate with different pictures and designs.

2. Page 1 – Create an acrostic poem for MOTHER. See ideas below.

It should look like this:

M - (magnificent, my, magical, morning, many)

O - (outstanding, outside, other)

T - (terrific, the, too, talks)

H - (heartfelt, home, here, hears)

E - (excellent, energetic, eager)

R - (right, rooms, rather)

3. Page 2 – Title : Top 5 Things My Mom Taught Me

  • Write a list of lessons your mom taught you. (Ex. How to ride a bike, how to memorize your multiplication facts, how to scare away the monsters under your bed, how to be faithful to God…)

4. Page 3 – Title : Once Upon a Time…

  • You will write a story that starts with “Once upon a time there was a little boy/girl…(whichever you are)" Then write, in about three to five sentences, about a time when your mom truly was there for you. For example, I would start her story “Once upon a time there was a little girl who always wanted to be a famous writer. She wrote stories all the time. Her mom told her she should follow her heart and anything was possible…” Then end your story with “That little girl/boy was me, and that wonderful mom was YOU.”

5. Page 4 – Title: If I Had a Million Dollars…

  • Write a list of five items/vacations you would buy for your mom if you had a million dollars.
  • Then skip a couple of lines and write, “I don’t have a million dollars, but I promise I will…” Write five things you can do for your mom to help her (Ex. Wash dishes, clean your room, take care of your dog, finish your homework)

If you finish your book early, go back through it and add the “extra” details. Little designs on the pages or extra colors…

Moms will love this!
