Tom Cruise

Mission Impossible IV is being filmed as I write this hub, and Tom Cruise is returning as the daredevil Ethan Hunt. Maybe you remember his characters from Top Gun and Jerry Maguire, and most recently Valkyrie and Lions For Lambs, but what else has Tom Cruise starred in?

Risky Business (1983)

• What Is the Story? When Joel Goodsen's parents leave for a vacation, they trust Joel to watch over their nice home. Instead of just relaxing, Joel takes a "risk" and has some fun! But, is Joel losing control over the situation?
• What Scene Will You Remember? A pantless Tom Cruise dancing to Old Time Rock and Roll. Even though this scene was about a minute of the ninty minute movie, it's the one that will stick with you!

Cocktail (1988)

• Who Was Tom Cruise? Brian Flanagan
• What Is the Story? Although he once dreamed of a marketing job, Brian Flanagan, while bartending to try and pay for college, decides he would rather be serving cocktails as his full time job! Brian journeys from New York all the way to Jamaica to work at the Tiki Bar, and there, he meets a pretty little lady who he just might end up falling for.
• What Quote Will You Remember? "Days get shorter and shorter, nights longer and longer, before you know it, your life is just one long night with a few comatose daylight hours."

Rain Man (1988)

• Who Was Tom Cruise? Charlie Babbitt
• What Is the Story? One of the most remarkable movies in the history of filmmaking. Cruise portrays Charlie Babbitt, an egotistical car dealer who has just learned he has a brother. That brother is Raymond, played by Dustin Hoffman, who is a man with autism, living in a home for his needs. Rain Man is about these two brothers coming together, and Raymond finally helping Charlie to open his eyes.
• What Quote Will You Remember? "What you have to understand is, four days ago he was only my brother by name, and this morning, we had pancakes together."

The Firm (1993)

• Who Was Tom Cruise? Mitch McDeere
• What Is the Story? The story of a young lawyer who is approached by "The Firm." They bring him into their twisted world by giving him endless amounts of money and gifts, but if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Jeanna Tripplehorn, star of HBO's Big Love, plays Abby McDeere, and Gene Hackman plays a senior partner.
• What Quote Will You Remember? Charlie is threatened to stay with the Firm. "Here's your Abby, one day, walking to the mailbox, anticipating the arrival of her Redbook, her Sharper Image catalog. What does she find instead?"

War of the Worlds (2005)

• Who Was Tom Cruise? Ray Ferrier
• What Is the Story? A father of a teenage boy and young daughter, is forced to defend his family when the unimaginable happens, and Earth truly is attacked by life from outer space. Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin play his children.
• Favorite lines? Robbie asks his father, "What is it? Is it terrorists?" Ray responds, "These came from some place else." Robbie: "What do you mean? Like Europe?" Ray: "No, Robbie, not like Europe!"
